Your Student ID now acts as a Library Card!

The Cedar Rapids Public Library is working in partnership with the Cedar Rapids Community School District to provide access to all the resources available at the Library using your student ID. No physical card is needed for you to begin accessing resources and materials now.

Your library card number is 1000301 plus your Student ID number.
Use this to log into the catalog and place books on hold, or use a digital resource from our website.

Your pin number is the last four digits of your student ID. 

Brainfuse HelpNOW

HELPNow by Brainfuse is a homework help resource with live tutors available daily from 2 pm – 11 pm CST. A writing lab, skill builders, language lab, and study support are all included.

Free Tech Training

DigitalLearn.org – If you are new to computers, haven’t used them for a while, are a little unsure and uncomfortable, or just need a bit of a refresher, this site has the tools to help you tackle technology at your own pace and gain the confidence you need to succeed.

Future Ready Iowa– State of Iowa initiative to funnel students into high demand careers.  Website contains lists of registered apprenticeship programs, career programs with scholarships,  as well as planning guides.  The website also features a resume creator.

GCFLearnFree – From Microsoft Office and email, to reading, math, and more—GCFLearnFree.org offers more than 200 topics, including more than 2,000 lessons, more than 1,000 videos, and more than 50 interactives and games, completely free.

Google Courses – Google courses offered through several providers including: Coursera, Skillshop, University of Helsinki, and others – Coding, job searching, AI, and other business and technology courses offered.  Certifications, webinars, and classes offered. 

Grow with Google– Another Google program aimed at providing job training in areas of technology earning a certificate at the completion of the program.

Microsoft Office Training - Learn the resources available on Microsoft Office 365 with these online tutorials.

Grade Level Resources

HELPNow by Brainfuse is a homework help resource with live tutors available daily from 2 pm – 11 pm CST. A writing lab, skill builders, language lab, and study support are all included.

IXL offers organized online lessons within the subjects of Math, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish.  The program is designed for Pre-K-12th grade students.

Khan Academy free courses and a personalized learning dashboard with resources for kids and parents.

NASA  NASA website devoted to stem education for students.

New York Times  a student centered New York Times site that has writing prompts, discussion of news issues, and a weekly student crossword.

PBS Kids has games based on PBS shows like Clifford, Curious George, and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Explore the Learn & Grow tab offering support through character, social skills, emotions & self awareness, math, science, and arts.

Pronunciator is the Library’s online resource for language learning. Use your library card and pin to learn any of 163 languages with personalized courses, movies, music, and more.

Purdue Online Writing Lab includes MLA, APA, and Chicago Guides.  This site is up to date with all the new rules that are released each year.  It also gives easy to understand examples.

ReadWorks: This is a free, grade level resource. “K-12 teachers across the country to solve our nation’s literacy crisis. ReadWorks does this by bridging the gap between research and practice in reading comprehension instruction. We leverage cognitive-science research to create high-impact instructional materials and tools that are designed for immediate use within the practical realities of current U.S. classrooms. As a result, over 1 million teachers and 13 million students are using ReadWorks to improve teaching and learning in their classrooms today.”
